Tradeshow Coordinator

Location: SPEX SamplePrep, Metuchen, NJ

Position Overview

The tradeshow coordinator will support the Sales and Marketing teams for our sample preparation equipment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Tradeshow coordination including planning schedules, booking exhibit booths, badges, lead scanners, assembling and shipping booth materials
  • Mailing catalogs and literature
  • Monitoring inventory of tradeshow giveaways
  • Help organize meetings and events
  • Other administrative duties assigned by the Marketing or Sales Managers

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 2+ years administrative or marketing experience preferably in the laboratory equipment or life science field
  • Excellent communication skills and customer service skills
  • Good organizational skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook

Domestic Sales Specialist

Location: SPEX SamplePrep, Metuchen, NJ

Position Overview

The Domestic Sales Specialist will support sales and marketing of our sample preparation equipment in a specific US territory. Products will include the company's comprehensive range of Sample Preparation and Katanax fusion fluxer products used in a wide range of scientific disciplines. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Respond to technical customer enquiries
  • Sales tasks including lead generation, follow-up, quotations, and negotiation
  • Provide sales support to Sales Executives
  • Taking/monitoring orders and coordinating shipping
  • May attend trade shows, conferences and instrument manufacturer's user group meetings
  • Visit key accounts and distributors with a senior sales person
  • Ability to demo our equipment
  • Marketing support to include customer mail shots, press releases and distributor training packs
  • Support in market research to assess and increase market share
  • Report new products and product modifications back to the company marketing group
  • Adhere to all ISO 9001 policies and procedures
  • The position may require about 30% travel
  • Other duties assigned by the VP of Domestic Sales or President

Non-Essential Duties

  • Provide support for logistics of shipping or product availability

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in Chemistry/Biology
  • 5+ years sales experience preferably in the laboratory equipment sector-alternatively candidates with a minimum of one year biological material science lab experience coupled with an interest in sales will be considered
  • Proven track record of exceeding sales targets and strong negotiation skills
  • Ability to communicate technical product information to both technical and non-technical professionals
  • Eager to learn the business and able to offer creative ideas on ways to continually improve it
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint and preferably ACT CRM program

CRM International Account Manager

Location: SPEX CertiPrep, Metuchen, NJ

Position Overview

The CRM International Account Manager will be responsible for territory management and sales of the company's products and dealer management for the critical territory to be defined. Products will include the company's comprehensive range of Inorganic and Organic standards used in a wide range of scientific disciplines and laboratory analysis techniques.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Dealer/Representative Management
  • Find new dealers/representatives and evaluate their ability to cover our markets and our products
  • Respond to technical customer inquiries
  • Sales tasks including lead generation, follow-up, quotations, and negotiation
  • Attend trade shows, conferences and instrument manufacturer's user group meetings
  • Visit key accounts and dealers
  • Marketing such as direct mail and e-blasts, press releases and distributor training packs in English, and coordinating translation in other languages local to the territory if possible
  • Support in market research to assess and increase market share
  • Report new products and product modifications back to the company marketing group
  • The position requires up to 40% travel
  • Adhere to all ISO 9001 policies and procedures
  • Other duties assigned by the VP of Sales/Marketing or President

Non-Essential Duties

  • Provide support for logistics of shipping or product availability
  • Backup for international order entry
  • Backup for sales and marketing telephone support

Position Requirements

  • Science degree, preferably in Chemistry
  • Knowledge of the use and applications of various chemical certified reference materials and calibration standards
  • Minimum 5 years sales experience preferably in the international sales sector
  • Proven track record of exceeding sales targets and strong negotiation skills
  • Ability to communicate technical product information to both technical and non-technical professionals
  • Eager to learn the business and able to offer creative ideas on ways to continually improve it
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to travel extensively
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint and ACT customer management or similar programs
  • Multiple language skills a plus

International Sales Admin

Location: Metuchen, NJ

Position Overview

The International Sales Administrator will support the International and Domestic Sales Managers of our sample preparation equipment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative support for International Sales Managers
  • Process international sales orders (phone, email, fax, and EDI)
  • Support accounting with foreign accounts receivable and clear orders on hold
  • Provide support for logistics of shipping and product availability for international orders
  • Distribute pricing to distributors (catalog items and spare parts)
  • Follow-up on marketing and literature requests (website and tradeshows) from all foreign customers and representatives
  • Adhere to all ISO 9001 policies and procedures
  • Other administrative duties assigned by Export Sales Manager

Non-Essential Duties

  • Backup domestic order entry
  • Backup of domestic phone support

Position Requirements

  • Associates degree preferably in a Business Administration or equivalent in work experience. Science degree a plus.
  • 2+ years Sales Support experience, preferably in the laboratory equipment or life science fields. Export sales experience preferred.
  • 2+ years export shipping documentation experience a plus
  • Excellent communication skills and customer service skills
  • Good organizational skills

  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint, knowledge of ACT programs is a plus

Inorganic ICP and Manufacturing Chemist

Location: SPEX CertiPrep, Metuchen, NJ

Position Overview

The Inorganic ICP and Manufacturing Chemist position is responsible for analysis and quality control of finished products and raw materials with use of ICP, ICP-MS and IC instrumentation. This position is responsible for instrument troubleshooting and data analysis. This position requires close interaction with quality control teams and manufacturing teams as well as a portion of time in the manufacturing department with hands-on chemistry lab work.

Job Responsibilities

  • Quality control of incoming raw materials, finished custom and stock products using ICP-MS, ICP-OES and other instrumentation
  • Be proficient with the instrumental analysis and data interpretation of products
  • Understand how to optimize methods to improve complex analyses
  • Troubleshoot products that exhibit special processing problems
  • Manufacture inorganic chemical products using knowledge of chemistry principles
  • Adhere to all safety, quality, process, housekeeping and company policies/procedures to ensure compliance to various regulatory and internal system requirements
  • Adhere to inventory management policies, procedures and practices to ensure uninterrupted flow of material in support of production build schedules
  • Interact cooperatively with internal support organizations to ensure product quality and delivery schedules to meet customer specifications and expectations
  • Contribute to a positive and cooperative work environment through effective communication
  • Communicate exceptions to established/agreed upon schedules to all affected parties internal and external
  • Identify, define and support intra/inter departmental continuous improvement activities/initiatives to successfully support operations and the corporate strategic vision
  • Other duties as assigned by the Manufacturing and QC Team Leaders

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemistry or related field
  • Previous instrumentation experience on ICP-MS or ICP-OES (required); IC, auto-titrator, pH meter is a plus
  • Experience with general chemistry glassware, lab supplies and concentrated acid handling
  • Basic mathematics and familiarity with general chemistry calculations
  • Computer skills requiring Microsoft Word, Excel, and LIMS
  • Good verbal and written communication skills to interact with all levels of personnel, both internal and external to the organization. Must read, write, speak, and understand the English language
  • Self-motivated individual who possesses the ability to analyze, organize, plan, prioritize assignments, multi-task and achieve results through process focused production
  • Ability to develop realistic/achievable action plans to support organizational objectives and strategies
  • Knowledgeable/familiarity in the areas of lean manufacturing and process control is a plus

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to weigh or pipette solutions using pipette bulbs or vacuum line to aid suction; chemists must be able to stand at a lab station while performing various manufacturing processes, and walk from station to station in performing their duties. Employees are required to use computers as needed and be able to pick up 10lit (~10 - 20 lbs) weight.

Electronics Engineer

Location: Metuchen, NJ

Position Overview

The Electronics Engineer will be responsible for electrical designs and embedded systems programming as part of a multi-disciplinary team.  He/she will also provide support for manufacturing and service when needed.     

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • New product development and improvements to existing products.
  • Microprocessor control and PLC control programming.
  • Design electrical boards to component level and develop interface with display screens.
  • Work with vendors to resolve quality issues and to identify new electronics components.
  • Work with customers on an as needed basis to solve specific issues.
  • Prepare design documentations and engineering specifications according to company standards.
  • Work as a team player with R&D, Manufacturing, Sales, and Management.
  • Adhere to all ISO 9001 policies and procedures
  • Others duties as assigned by VP of Production.
  • Work experience with CAD and schematic capture (circuit simulation a plus).

Non-Essential Duties

  • Provide support to Service Technician with equipment repairs and trouble shooting for electronics/electrical issues as needed.
  • Provide support to Manufacturing with electronics trouble shooting and evaluation of component quality and function as needed

Position Requirements

  • Minimum BS in Electrical Engineering plus 3-5 years relevant expertise. (We will consider candidates with Associates Degree with higher level of relevant experience and expertise.)
  • Skilled in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Strong computer and programming skills for embedded microprocessor systems. ( C++ environment)
  • Engineering prototyping skills.
  • Experience with AC and DC motors and controls a plus.
  • Good knowledge in the use of electronic testing equipment; oscilloscopes, voltmeters, power supplies and the like. 
  • Must be willing to do hands on development and testing work.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills essential.  Must be a team player.
  • Some mechanical assembly work related to building prototypes for test of electronic systems
