Automated Tissue Homogenizer and Cell Lyser for Biological Applications
The Genomax is an automated high-throughput plant and animal tissue homogenizer and cell lyser designed for rapid cell disruption, cell lysis and tissue homogenization through bead beating. This enables fast and efficient extraction of nucleic acids, proteins and other molecules.
The Genomax is programmed via touch screen interface allowing users to set and store run time, operating rate, pause time and cycles. Protocols can be passcode protected. The Genomax comes pre-loaded with one-touch protocols for plant and animal tissue homogenization.
DNA isolation kits are available for extraction and purification of DNA from animal and plant tissues. In addition, a full range of Kryo-Tech® accessories are available to preserve temperature sensitive samples.
Typical applications include molecular biology, pharmaceutical, clinical research, and extraction.
Typical samples include plant tissue, animal tissue, cell cultures, and microorganisms.
Genomax Clamps
The 2051 Vial Clamp holds a wide range of vials sizes, tubes and jars, and is included with the purchase of a Genomax. The 2052 Titer Plate Clamp holds up to 6 deep-well plates and ensures that no leakage occurs during the homogenization process. A quick locking system allows for easy installation and removal of the clamp.
New Accessories for the 2052 Titer Plate Clamp
Our new 2205-50 reinforced titer plate and 2206-50 cap-mat are designed to withstand bead beating.
DNAmax Kits
The Spex Genomic DNA Isolation Kits are optimized to work with the Genomax and allows for fast and seamless isolation of DNA from a wide variety of animal tissues and cells, including mammalian, poultry, and fish, and soft and tough plant tissue.
The kit combines the use of chaotropic salts and detergents to disrupt animal tissues or cells permitting the selective binding of the DNA to a silica column. Proteinase K and RNase A are then added to implement DNA isolation. An ethanol wash buffer is used to remove any additional elements or contamination from the silica column. The column is dried by centrifugation and DNA is eluted using the elution buffer.
